Pocket Park Opened Opposite Location with Extraordinary History
A new park has opened opposite Ghost House Lane in Chilwell, providing 5,000 square metres of green space for local residents to enjoy.
The new ‘pocket park’ also includes seating and a picnic area, complementing the adjacent green space at Inham Nook Recreation Ground and is well known locally, following a series of strange happenings that led people to believe the area was haunted.
Local chainsaw sculptor, Peter Leadbeater, has been on site to create a special log carving to reflect the site’s spooky history - an idea which was suggested as part of consultation work with local schools, Sunnyside Spencer Academy and Eskdale Junior School.
Six million disabled people in the UK will receive their one-off £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment to help with the rising cost of living. Those being paid a qualifying disability benefit will be paid automatically by their usual payment method from 20 September 2022, with most payments being made over the next few weeks.
For anyone currently awaiting a decision on a disability benefit claim who subsequently receives an award, the Disability Cost of Living Payment will be made automatically as long the qualifying benefit covers 25 May 2022.
For disabled people on low-incomes, this payment comes on top of means-tested Cost of Living payments, £400 for all households to help with energy bills, and an extra £150 for properties in Council Tax bands A to D in England.

Nottingham and Nottinghamshire health and care system continues to see significant pressures
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and Sherwood Forest Hospital NHS Trust are facing extreme pressures and additional measures are being put in place to make sure staff are supported to continue to deliver high quality care to their patients.
What you can do to help
Only call 999 or attend A&E departments for serious accidents and for genuine emergencies.
When you need urgent medical care but it’s not an emergency, please visit NHS 111 online or call NHS111 for advice on how to get the care you need at any time of day or night
Urgent Treatment Centres treat injuries including sprains, strains, suspected fractures, bites, cuts, scalds and other non-emergency conditions. Waiting times are usually much shorter than A&E
If you cannot make any NHS appointment, please contact the number on your appointment letter so that it can be reallocated to another patient
If you are eligible and have not already, please make sure you have had all of your COVID-19 vaccinations
